As the founder of The McCoy House 4 Postpartum, Octavia Rogers has lived experiences with postpartum psychosis makes her a champion for the change we need to see. Her personal journey has fueled her passion for advocacy, allowing her to connect deeply with others who find themselves in similar circumstances. Her vision is to provide readily accessible resources to the valley, aiming to prevent another tragedy at the hands of this unfortunate reality that many women face. Octavia has set her sights on erasing the shame and stigma surrounding perinatal mood disorders believing firmly that knowledge is power and that no one should suffer in silence. This mental health disorder can affect any new mother often manifesting through severe mood swings, confusion, and paranoia, making it crucial for healthcare providers and families alike to be vigilant in recognizing the symptoms early on. I’m deeply empathetic towards all women who are pregnant or going through the postpartum period as this time can be both joyful and overwhelming.
